Auckland has been turning on the weather lately, and there's no better way to spend the hours of 4-7pm than drinking a cider and catching up with some friends.

Here are some spots below that do really good drinks, and serve up some decent nibbly things too!

EAST

Hallertau - Clevedon

Absolutely perfect for friends and families, ping pong, mini golf and lots of room to run around. Lots of room outdoors, huge tables with umbrellas. Also, an insane amount of beers and ciders and you can get a tasting rack to find your fave first. The HFC fried chicken is a must have!

Marina Cantina - Half Moon Bay

Half Moon Bay as the sun sets is a beauty of a place. If you're into Margaritas this is the place, the frozen plum one will cool you right down. The loaded fries are also pretty decent and you can always pop next door to Thai for takeaways for dinner!

Basalt - Howick

Couldn't include a section on out East without featuring Basalt. The place for 18 year olds on a Thursday night, but also actually a decent place to get an after work drink upstairs. The drinks are decent, cheap jugs of beer! Food is meh, but there are lots of other options nearby.

Goode Brothers - Howick

The outdoor bar area makes for the perfect pit stop when shopping! Lovely staff always, decent drinks and the nibbles are usually pretty good too.

The Corner - Howick

I always feel like a boujee Cockle Bay housewife sitting outside here. It is the perfect spot to people watch, grab a table outside and watch the world go by. The snacks are delish but more on the expensive side, however they do have lots of daily specials so keep an eye out!

Mexico - Sylvia Park/Ellerslie/Takapuna/Britomart

With an extensive drinks menu and delish things to nibble on Mexico is a lovely place to bask in the afternoon soon. I love their sangrias, and their fried chicken is hard to beat!

ELSEWHERE

The Good George - Mission Bay

Prime location, so many drinks to choose from and really yum food. This is the place to be on a sunny arvo. Their range of ciders never fails to impress.

Dr Rudi's Rooftop Bar - Viaduct

Absolutely stunning early in the evening. Gets a lot of hype for its early morning happenings, but my fave time to go is just before sunset. Huge range of drinks and decent food too! Also they have specials on pizzas in early arvo.

Saint Alice - Viaduct

Delicious sangria, beautiful views and a lovely vibe too. Recommend going here for a cocktail or two if Rudi's is looking a little packed. Wouldn't rave about the food though.

Sardine - Newmarket

Attached to White and Wongs in Newmarket, the bar offers drinks and nibbles perfect for a summer evening. My favourite is actually the lychee mocktail, but I can vouch for the cocktails; they are strong and good!

The Oyster Inn - Waiheke

A prime location, absolute bliss! Get the salted caramel espresso martini while you gaze out at the ocean.

Man O War - Waiheke

If you're into your wine this is the place to go. Grab a picnic table, and a bottle of wine for the table and enjoy the sunshine. They also do super delish food if you get peckish!
